What customers say?

“ I visited on a Saturday afternoon in late July. I came here for sea urchin. I arrived just before 11:30 and there were about five other groups in line. I was able to get in after about 30 minutes. I ordered the sea urchin sashimi set meal, fried oysters, and beer. The food looked and tasted great, and the side dishes and rice were of high quality. The homemade tartar sauce was delicious. Be careful, as there are quite a few steps on the raised platform. The sea urchin sashimi set meal sold out just after 12:00, so I recommend going earlier on weekends. If you're driving, use the nearby paid parking lot. If you're traveling by train, it might be a good idea to take the subway. Especially in the summer, during lunchtime, it can be extremely hot, so be prepared to wait until you arrive. However, sea urchin is only available at this time of year, so be sure to take precautions and enjoy it. ”

“ I was impressed by the quality of the sea urchin sashimi and raw oysters, which is unbelievable for the price. The restaurant had a clean atmosphere, and the staff were very friendly and kind to our children. ”

“ Oyster was fresh and sweet. Uni was fresh but not that flavorful. But at least the price is reasonable ”

“ The oysters were my favorite, very fresh with great texture. The uni sashimi, however, was kind of disappointing, not very flavorful, probably not the expensive kind. ”

“ I came here wanting to eat sea urchin. The recommended ingredients seem to be sea urchin and oysters. The raw sea urchin sashimi platter and single-seed oyster menu started at six pieces, but since I was alone, I was able to order in small quantities, so I ordered one. I imagine raw sea urchin would be extremely expensive in the Kanto region. I was recommended to season the raw oysters with lemon juice and pepper, so it was my first time trying this combination, but it was quite delicious. I also ordered three fried oysters separately. The appetizer was also chawanmushi with sea urchin and edamame. All the dishes were delicious, but since I arrived late, not much was ordered, but I would like to visit again if I have the opportunity. ”

“ Visited in October 2025. I went to Katakura Uniya specifically for the "Uni Gozen." I was excited after reading the Google reviews and photos, so I was honestly shocked to find out it closed in September. I regret not doing more research beforehand. I'd like to summarize a few of my thoughts here, hoping they'll be helpful for those visiting from outside the prefecture. [Summary] - Uni Gozen isn't a year-round menu item. - Reservations accepted only at 11:30 AM. - There was no line when we arrived at 10:50 AM on a Saturday. - The large portion of rice was surprisingly large. - The rice was cooked inconsistently. When I stopped by to check on the restaurant before opening, a staff member was cleaning and told me, "There aren't many reservations today, so you don't need to wait in line." I found a bench at a nearby Family Mart, so I waited there for a while. Around 11:20 AM, customers with reservations began to enter one by one, and it seemed everyone except us had reservations. That said, the restaurant was about half empty that day, and there were still seats available after we finished eating. We ordered regular and large portions of rice, but there was a slight difference in when they arrived, with the large portion arriving about five minutes late. It was a bit disappointing that they were served separately. The large portion was packed full into the bowl and quite a large portion. For 100 yen, it felt like a great deal. However, there was a difference in how well the rice was cooked. My portion was quite soft, while the other bowl's was a bit hard. Perhaps the rice was cooked unevenly overall. Water was served first, but they didn't come back to refill it even when it got low. It would have been nice if they had tea after the meal. The restaurant played background music that was a bit out of place in a Japanese restaurant, which may have been the kitchen's preference. The staff were all polite, and I was particularly impressed by the friendly blonde female staff member. The restrooms are unisex. Payment is cash only, and is made at the register near the entrance. Overall, I think the restaurant offered good value for money. Thank you for the meal. ”

“ There's a line before opening. I waited an hour. However, After 1 PM, the line isn't as long. (Maybe it depends on the day?) The restaurant doesn't seem to have a parking lot, but there is one nearby. You can pay to park there. Everyone is eating the 3,500 yen sea urchin, but only one bowl of rice. The women are fine, but the men don't seem to have enough... It's still a lot of rice for a sea urchin bowl, but I guess there are a lot of people who want sea urchin with shells still attached. But everyone is rich. The fried oysters are large, but not juicy. Just regular fried oysters. I guess the 3,500 yen sea urchin with shells is the right choice after all. ”

“ A mother and daughter visited Sendai for the first time during summer vacation. As my mother is a sea urchin lover, she was looking forward to this restaurant, so we went in with high expectations. If we had had time, I would have liked to take them to Minami Sanriku San San Shopping Street, but at this restaurant you can enjoy the same quality without having to go to the location. A regular-sized sea urchin bowl was 3,000 yen, which is smaller and cheaper than the local version. The appetizer (sea urchin chawanmushi) was a bit pricey at 600 yen, but very delicious. We also had fried oysters (3 pieces) for 800 yen, fried chicken, and soft drinks, as we visited by car. The total came to just under 10,000 yen. Thank you for the meal! ”
